Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota
The Pine Ridge Reservation is home to the Oglala Lakota Sioux. Although Pine Ridge is the 8th largest reservation within the United States, it is the poorest. Unemployment ranges between 80% -85% and around 50% of residents live below the federal poverty level. Life expectancy on the reservation is lowest anywhere in the western hemisphere (besides Haiti).
Very sad statistics.
